Since recording this song on my band No More Kings' first album, the Girl in the Sea has been one of my favorite characters to draw. I don't remember exactly when I decided to give her a more octopus-like tail rather than the traditional mermaid one, but I do love how it evokes a sense of a flowing dress. I love populating her world with little fish and sea creatures. She seems like such a friendly sort, that the inhabitants of the sea would surely want to visit her.
